Welcoming the Year of the Rooster with adidas and Rastaclat

Binondo, Manila 14.6012° N, 120.9750° E

January 28, 2017 marks a fresh start in the Chinese New Year calendar. As the Year of the Rooster officially begins, brands such as adidas and Rastaclat are geared up to honor the long-awaited festivities.

To celebrate new year, SA’ICHI kicks off our latest series named #SAICHIstreets, which is aligned to feature our quest to explore the outdoors.

For this special blog entry, products included in this post are shot in the streets of Manila's "Chinatown" during its busiest time of the year. Hope you enjoy.

Being different each year according to its 12-year cycle, the Chinese Zodiac animal signs are also associated with 4 elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. These upcoming festivities mark a once in a lifetime occasion - as the “Fire Rooster” only comes once in every 60 years.

For sneaker enthusiasts, adidas Originals prepared a special pack for the celebrations – the “Year of the Rooster pack”. Consisting of the Superstar, Superstar SlipOn W, Stan Smith, and Tubular Radial, the sneakers in the premium pack each receives a festive embroidered rooster on the heel, plus thematic mahjong-detailed insoles.

To add more flavor and exclusivity, each pair will have a rooster-inspired mahjong piece.

Rastaclat also pays homage to this year’s Chinese Zodiac sign with an exclusive bracelet, "Year of the Rooster". Engraved with sophisticated details, the band is finished off with a red and gold trim which translates to prosperity and luck.

To add, the commemorative product receives a special gold box for future collective purposes.

Special thanks to the owners of Tao Yuan Restaurant for welcoming SA'ICHI into their fine restaurant.
