The Air Max 98 Strikes in "Thunder Blue" and "Cone"

The Air Max 98 turns 20 years old this 2018 and it's only fitting that the Swoosh has interesting colorways for its lineup. First released in 1998, its OG colorway earned the moniker  "Gundam", as it resembles the famous mecha anime which was popular at the time. For this year's release, the Nike Air Max 98 QS “Thunder Blue” comes in a denim-like upper while the Nike Air Max 98 QS “Cone” arrives in the most colorful upper of the 98 to date. Both sport a reflective lining and miniature Swoosh. The overlay lacing-system provides a perfect fit and it features a full length heel-to-toe cushioning from the Air Max 97. It is also noticeably bulkier than previous Air Max models.

The Air Max 98 has been dubbed as “One of the most underrated Air Max in Nike’s history”. It wasn’t even included in Nike’s “History of Air” in 2005 and the Air Max Day tribute to the history of Air Max in 2015. However, the Air Max 98 still has it's charms despite its popularity paling in comparison to the previous Air Max models. In the rising trend of the "dad shoe", the Air Max 98 might be on its way to gaining the cult following it deserves.
